New World”, do músico norte-americano Dave Hill.

Rafael Ferraz

It’s always good to listen to a guitar CD, in which, the guitar is not necessarily the center of attention. That’s what I found when I first listened to “New World”, by the north american musician Dave Hill. The album starts with a african kind of melody, with percussions suggesting that we are not going to have any border in music styles. Dave walks by different types of sonority, like we can see on the tracks “Knee Deep” and “New World”. On “Sunrise”, we sense a sunrising feeling, with a beautiful and simple melody. The album continues with “Rush Hour”, “Do you Know”, and “Soul Sister”, with nice themes and a great rhythm variety that calls for more attention and surprises us positively, always with nice details in each instruments. The good “Oak Harbor” and “Prove it” set the ground to close the album with “All The Times”, this one, Dave plays alone, giving us a beautiful harmony, providing a perfect execution that would definitely make Joe Pass smile. The “New World” album is a great world that Dave created, and he was generous in asking us to take a tour through it.

Rafael Ferraz

[15
